Inside the flour mill/factory

Built around the time of World War I, this iconic building was used to mill flour before closing recently after ownership was transferred to a big property developer. Latest update is that development approval has been submitted to convert the mill into shops and a supermarket which is not appropriate in my opinion. Machinery, switchboards and other industrial equipment built before the 1940s in this factory tells a history of our industrial past which could be lost if plans went ahead. Anyway, here are some shots. I have left out location details for now until the fate of this building is known (although some who have been there may recognise it).

Dunlop Slazenger Factory Part I

Not really a historical place as the Dunlop Factory is not that old but it is still interesting. Not sure how long this has been abandoned, but it is filled with graffiti. Warning, there is asbestos in this place so care should be taken when walking around the building and also advisable to walk near the windows to get fresh air. Here were some pics taken last month.

Annandale shops

A group of decaying shops in Annandale. Don't have much history on these buildings which have been idle for a few years.

Rozelle Tram Depot, Glebe, Sydney

The Rozelle Tram depot in Glebe was one of the last places to see the old transport system of Sydney which contained an old bus and a few trams all covered in graffiti. First built in 1904, the tramsheds had a long distinguished history in servicing Sydney's tram network until it was decomissioned and fell into neglect. More recently it was reported that the last remaining trams and buses were removed out around August 2011 for development by Mirvac.
